2018 St Andrew’s Caledonian Charity Ball raises more than PLN 150,000

The St Andrew’s Caledonian Charity Ball held in the Warsaw Marriott Hotel on Saturday 24 November 2018 raised more than PLN 150,000 for the support of ill and disadvantaged young people in Poland.  Many thanks to our nearly 300 guests, our sponsors and other donors who made this all possible.

Supporting children with brain cancer

The immediate beneficiaries of your generosity will be children suffering from brain cancers.  Together with Fundacja Iskierka, represented at the Ball by their Prezes Jolanta Czernicka-Siwecka, we’ll be purchasing equipment for DTI (Diffusion Tensor Imaging) Tractography.  This state of the art equipment will help differentiate brain cancers and improve pre-operative planning for ill young people.

Guests enjoying the Caledonian Ball 2018

The St Andrew’s Caledonian Charity Ball is a major annual event and has now been a feature on the Warsaw social scene for more than 20 years.  In essence it is a Scottish themed evening with a dinner featuring Scottish dishes followed by a ceilidh attended by around 300 people intent on enjoying the best night out in Warsaw!

The 2019 edition of the Ball is to be held on Saturday 30 November 2019 – reserve the date in your diary, and if you are one of our corporate sponsors, please remember to include it in your budget for 2019!

St Andrew’s Foundation

The St Andrew’s Foundation was formed by Scots in Poland in 2015 with the aim of:

• promoting Scottish cultural activities in Poland;
• providing financial support to selected Polish charities;
• running events with a Scottish theme such as the annual Caledonian Ball in Warsaw; and,
• promoting good relations between Poles and Scots.

Fundacja Iskierka

Fundacja Iskierka is a Polish charity organisation, formed in 2006, developing systems providing financial, psychological and social support to children with cancer and to their families. They currently support more than 500 children undergoing cancer treatment.
